Feasting
with the King Watercolor
by Lynda Finch Esth
5:1-5 1
Now it happened on the third day that Esther put on her royal
robes and stood in the inner court of the king's palace, across from the
king's house, while the king sat on his royal throne in the royal house,
facing the entrance of the house. 2
So it was, when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court,
that she found favor in his sight, and the king held out to Esther the
golden scepter that was in his hand. Then Esther went near and touched
the top of the scepter. 3
And the king said to her, "What do you wish, Queen Esther?
What is your request? It shall be given to you-- up to half the
kingdom!" 4
So Esther answered, "If it pleases the king, let the king
and Haman come today to the banquet that I have prepared for him." 5
Then the king said, "Bring Haman quickly, that he may do as
Esther has said." So the king and Haman went to the banquet that
Esther had prepared. Ps
23:4-5 4
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I
will fear no evil; for You are with me; your rod and Your staff, they
comfort me. 5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you
anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Song
of Solomon 2:4 4
He brought me to the
banqueting house, and his banner over me was love. As
I was painting this picture, I kept placing myself in Esther's shoes.
How would it feel to be in the presence of the King, who loves you so
much. He has the power to put you to death but you have favor and the
love of this King. You prepare a table for the King and an enemy. This
enemy hates those you love and the essence of who you are. To feast or
banquet with the king in the presence of the enemy had to be hard, yet
God asked Esther to do this twice. It was a type of warfare.
In the painting, I added swords to represent the warfare that
Esther and the King accomplished at this table. Esther knew who her
enemy was but her focus is the King and their love for one another. Its
all about letting God anoint your head (mindsets) to do this. Could you
truly rejoice with the King (faith) while the enemy's plan is so real?
This is where courage comes in…courage and faith at a higher level.
Its time to fight in God’s way, loving the King of Kings and hearing
His heart. Then your cup
will run over to live your destiny again. |
