Righteousness and Victory

The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

Those who are planted in the house of the LORD shall
flourish in the courts of our God.

They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing,

To declare that the LORD is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
Ps 92:12-15
(NKJ)

The palm tree in this scripture represents the flourishing and fruitfulness of our walk with God. Like the palm tree, we are to be fruitful to a great age. The perpetual greenness of its foliage and the height at which the foliage grows is as far as possible from earth and as near as possible to heaven. It reaches to the heavens, tall and upright.

In the desert, this tree signified that there was life giving water. Exod 15:27

The branches of the palm tree were carried at the feast of Tabernacles. Leviticus 23:40.

At our Lord's triumphal entrance into Jerusalem the crowds took palm branches, and went forth to meet him, crying, "Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord". Palm branches were used by the Jews in token of victory and peace. Matthew 21:8; John 12:13.

After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.
