Ignite the Arts

About the Founder and Teachers:

Professional Artists donate their time to teach children and their families how to draw on the right side of the brain through the Ignite the Arts outreach. A Saturday workshop where anyone from ages 5 to 85 can create a wonderful drawing and learn how to see as an artist sees. Artists Lynne Barletta. Lynda Finch, Kim Hogan and more invite area children, especially those who may not have an art program in their school to experience a “can do” atmosphere and the exciting opportunity to learn to see and create as an artist does. This is a practical as well as a spiritual time of learning. As funds come in, each child is able to go home with their own sketch pad and drawing tools. Children also learn watercolor, colored pencil and Dr. Daryl Moore teaches music and dance for any who are interested. A lunch is often provided and entire families from underprivileged areas are fed. The feedback has been amazing, and children are discovering worth, joy and the satisfaction of accomplishment. Our goal is to open a center for the arts that also includes juvenile and family counseling, utilizing the arts as a part of restoration. This outreach is supported entirely through donations.

Lynne Barletta began the first “IGNITE THE ARTS!” outreach for Florida in November of 2006. Lynne is a professional award winning artist with 30 years of experience in drawing and painting in watercolors, acrylics, scratchboard, pastels and oils. Her work has been featured on TBN and local West Palm Beach Television over the last 10 years. Lynne also helped to pilot “Art Taught by Artists” in Denver public schools, and has continued to teach over the years. Her work can be seen at her personal website.

Area children ages 6 to 14 and their families are invited to attend a half day free workshop as a part of the quarterly conferences. Talented local and nationally known artists give their time and gifting, in order to share several aspects of the arts with families. Open Heavens Centers donates sketchbooks, pencils, watercolors and a variety of supplies. Drawing on the right side of the brain is taught with exciting completed drawings by both children and adults. Watercolor and colored pencil is also available. Musical instruments, flags and dance are a part of the day of instruction as well.

The feedback from these workshops is amazing. The outreach is to the public, and many are introduced to the Lord. For more information on hosting a workshop in your area, church or business, please contact us. These workshops are available quarterly at our local conferences.
